Candace grew up in California and has studied art extensively throughout her life. As a young girl, she spent her summers in the high desert with her grandmother, also an accomplished painter and where she was encouraged to pursue and explore her creativity through art. She attended California State University in Fullerton and then later graduated, cum laude, with a B. F. A. in painting, drawing and kinesiology from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. She has studied with nationally recognized watercolorist, Don Andrews, masterprinter, Dan Weldon and the Texas State Artist, Dalhart Windberg.
Candace has been actively involved in the arts community since the early seventies, working with the City of Anaheim, Fontana and Upland, California to develop citywide public art programs for children. After moving to Texas she helped implement a similar youth curriculum for the City of Farmers Branch. In 1989, she started with fellow artist, Michael Bane, Fort Worth Artists \& Company, which was one of Fort Worth’s first successfully owned and operated artists’ cooperative gallery and studios, housing over 20 artists.
Candace is widely known for her Old Masters style of portraits, landscapes and still life oil paintings, as well as her finely rendered watercolors of cityscapes, equine and animals portraits and her delicate figurative drawings. She has painted many murals for boutiques, salons, gift shops, attorney offices and private residences and she also specializes in faux marble, wood and metal finishes. She has taught the various disciplines of painting, drawing and printmaking since the mid-seventies and is the owner of The East Main Street Gallery, Gallery Annex and gift shop in Decatur, Texas.
She has been represented by the Carol Henderson/Artenergies Gallery in Fort Worth, Texas since 1989 and The Gallery on Dickson Street in Fayetteville, Arkansas since 1996. Candace has presented many lectures and demonstrations of her work to public schools, art associations, civic groups and private clubs and organizations throughout North Texas and California. She is currently completing a series depicting the historical landmarks and buildings in Wise County and Decatur, Texas.
