Art, a GLCT Production

“How much would you pay for a painting? Would it matter who the painter was? Would it really be art? Would you care what your friends thought about it and you for buying it?” The Greater Lewisville Community Theater’s current production is “Art”. This funny, sophisticated, stylish plot examines the rules that dictate both art and friendship. This would be a great outing with your “artist” friends.

The show dates are March 5-21, with the Friday and Saturday performances at 8 p.m. and the Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. Individual ticket prices are $13 for adults and $9 for children 18 and under and seniors 65 and over. For reservations please call 972-221-SHOW and visit www.glct.org for additional information. GLCT is located at 160 W. Main Street in Old Town Lewisville.

Johnny Robertson: Feb. 2004

The Visual Art League of Lewisville welcomes artist Johnny Robertson as the February guest speaker. Johnny, a born-and-bred Texan best known in recent years for his large mono- chromatic paintings meant as modern explorations of the landscape. Johnny will present a slide presentation of his work followed by an informal discussion.

“Growing up on the plains of west Texas, I understood the notion of wide, open spaces. The tabletop landscape was dotted with repeating shapes of telephone poles and petroleum tanks receding into the distance. As I began to paint, I noticed that my memory of these things evolved; the details altered, thoughts and emotions edited themselves. My art has much to do with this sense of fleeting atmosphere. I feel that these paintings are distilled records of ever changing spatial events.” – Johnny Robertson
