The Visual Art League of Lewisville welcomes artist Johnny Robertson as the February guest speaker. Johnny, a born-and-bred Texan best known in recent years for his large mono- chromatic paintings meant as modern explorations of the landscape. Johnny will present a slide presentation of his work followed by an informal discussion.

“Growing up on the plains of west Texas, I understood the notion of wide, open spaces. The tabletop landscape was dotted with repeating shapes of telephone poles and petroleum tanks receding into the distance. As I began to paint, I noticed that my memory of these things evolved; the details altered, thoughts and emotions edited themselves. My art has much to do with this sense of fleeting atmosphere. I feel that these paintings are distilled records of ever changing spatial events.” - Johnny Robertson
