A Letter from the President

Recently I have been acting as President of VAL, so I will officially fill that office for the remainder of the year – thru September 04. By doing this, I vacate the 1st Vice President position on the Board. It is important that our Board positions are fully filled. A partial Board cannot do effective planning nor meet the necessary goals and requirements for the Visual Art League. We currently have three positions open, 1st Vice President, Secretary and Director. If we continue to have an incomplete Board, it indicates to me that there really is not the interest in our organization to perpetuate its programs.

We have challenges before us. If we are to continue those things that I believe are important to us, it will mean more people and more commitment. I am asking now as the President of VAL that each and everyone decide if you can do more…if you can recruit more members, if you can serve on the board, if you can lead a committee. Please evaluate these things and come forward to be of service.

84 Charing Cross Road

The Greater Lewisville Community Theater’s current production is “84 Charing Cross Road”. This delightful show is a dramatization of business letters between a struggling young writer in New York and an antiquarian bookstore in London.

In another sense, it is an exchange of love letters over a twenty-two year period – love of good literature and care for the lives of people who meet only through their correspondence. Adapted from an autobiographical book by Helene Hanff, this is a warm, moving and sometimes funny hands-across-the-sea chronicle.

The show dates are April 30 – May 16, with the Friday and Saturday performances at 8 p.m. and the Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. Individual ticket prices are $13 for adults and $9 for children 18 and under and seniors 65 and over.

For reservations please call 972-221-SHOW and visit www.glct.org for additional information. GLCT is located at 160 W. Main Street in Old Town Lewisville.
