Art Critique ready for a trip?

Art Critique is held the 4th Saturday each month. Anyone who would like to participate meets at the VAL gallery at 10:00 am for discussions, field trips, or art evaluation. All members are invited; there is no charge. Bring two pieces of your work for critique. These sessions are informative and the more people that participate, the more you get from the critique. We will also be talking about a possible excursion to one of the area galleries or museums. Please contact Lorraine Hayes at 972-317-4375 regarding the Art Critique.

With Much Appreciation

R’lene has been working on a show for us at the Vista Ridge Mall. We are looking for June to do this, but there are details yet to be worked out. Additionally, R’lene says that Borders Book Store may be interested in having our paintings there. If you are interested in showing at either of these places, please let R’lene know at 972-874-3919.

We want to thank R’lene for all her efforts in getting publicity in the papers about our events. We have had something in the paper no less than each month since she has started doing Publicity. And, R’lene and JoAnn have volunteered to deliver our publicity material to local businesses and organizations. We appreciate their hard work in getting our information out to our community.

Thanks to Meg Smith for providing refreshment at the April meeting. We have a volunteer for May. Alice Brannen has volunteered to bring the snacks, and we want to thank her very much!”

A volunteer is needed for June. If you would like to provide refreshments at the June meeting, please contact Meg Smith at 972-539-9485.

J. E. Uebelacker: Apr. 2004

Judy Uebelacker has shown her work in Denton, Dallas, Richardson, Las Vegas, Irving and Niigata, Japan. Her murals are at DMX Music in Dallas, Barron Elementary School Library in Plano and Scarborough Renaissance Festival at Waxahachie. She has studied under Walter Caruth Emerson and attended workshops in the U.S. and Mexico with Daniel Green, Rob Erdle, Jerry Seagle, Jane Jones, Pat Kochan, as well as other artists. She was president of the North Texas Area Art League in Denton 2002-2003 and is a member of the Austin Street Artists Association. Since 1991, she has been owner and sole proprietor of Judy ‘N Company, an art entertainment agency that provides artistic entertainment for corporate, private, and charity events.

Judy Uebelacker says enjoying painting and sketching was a part of her childhood. As she raised her children, textile design and other creative projects were the means by which she contributed to the support of the family. Her ability to work with color and design contributed also to her achieving recognition as a face and body painter specializing in Mardi Gras mask designs and detailed body art. These experiences influenced her painting and at this point she further developed techniques with fine art studies at the Art Academy of Dallas and in numerous workshops with nationally and internationally known artists. Travel has added significantly to her inspiration, and she finds herself attracted by the colors and vibrancy of New Orleans, as well as areas of Mexico and India.

Judy has been a face and body artist since 1978 and has contributed to Face Painting International magazine and has self-published 2 books on face painting methods – The Heart of the Matter and The Art of Face \& Body Painting: Fantasy Designs. She produced 2 videos with face painting techniques. She has been a caricature artist since 1999 and a member of the National Caricature Artist Network. She has 12 additional years of art experience in textile design.

Judy will be speaking on face and body painting at the April 6 meeting, 7pm, and will give a demonstration on face painting.
