Member, Karyn Lee is an art teacher with the Lewisville High School North. She is so pleased to announce that her art student, Arturo Noyola, has won First Place in the 23rd Annual Congressional High School Art Competition. The contest was open to public and private high school students residing in the 26th Congressional District.
First Prize is the display of the winning student’s artwork for a year in the corridor to the U.S. Capitol traveled daily by members of Congress, their staffs and the public. In addition, the Savannah College of Art and Design awards a $3000 scholarship renewable annually.
Arturo and his mom will be flown to Washington D.C. courtesy of Southwest Airlines to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony and gala reception on June 13 opening the 2004 “An Artistic Discovery” exhibition honoring the winning artists from all over the country. Karyn is working on a fund-raiser for a hotel and food for Arturo and his mom so they can go to DC.
