In general, there are 3 or 4 members shows each year. The exhibition can be titled if desired and has a $50 award is given for one piece in the show. The Board has allowed spending for the reception, mail outs, awards and publicity of each of these shows. The 2006 schedule is being formulated now, but tentatively these dates are shown below. Generally a reception is coordinated with the outside artist showing in the front and middle rooms and is usually held at one time for both shows.
Tentative Dates For 2006: Show 1: Install beings sometimes in December 05. Exhibition January 5 thru February 18. Show 2: Install begins May 6. Exhibition May 11 thru June 24 Show 3: Install begins August 20. Exhibition August 24 thru November 19
To Do’s for Each Show:
A separate members show is Fresh Ideas, a juried exhibition, and is handled by a separate committee.

If you are interested in volunteering to help out the Visual Art League, please attend a Board meeting to let us know what you would like to do. Many times at a meeting or an event, it is hard to cover opportunities that are available for you and for VAL. If you would like to assist one of our Committee Chairs as listed in the newsletter, contact them directly. We’re sure there will be a place you can serve.

The “LISD Faculty Exhibition” opened October 13and will run thru November 12. Each year the faculty of the Lewisville Independent School District has the opportunity to show their work, usually in conjunction with the students’ show. However, this year the schedule for the faculty show has been placed later in the year. Be sure to check out this exhibition and see works of those who teach our children their artistic skills.
