Holiday Events, Call for Volunteers

Again this year, the Visual Art League will host a Benefit Sale – with the sale of donated artworks, priced at $100 or less, all proceeds going to charity. We will also be having an Artisan’s Sale, with tables available for members to sell their own creations for holiday gift giving – proceeds staying with the artist.
These events are planned for the third week of November- Thursday, November 16th, Friday November 17th and Saturday November 18th; possibly extended if interest is high. Both of these endeavors need chairpersons and committee members to make them successful. Please contact any board member to get involved – you and your art are needed!
The Greater Lewisville Arts Council, whose annual grant to VAL is a major source of our funding, has an annual reception, the Angel Awards, honoring the volunteer of the year from each of the member groups (Greater Lewisville Community Theater, Lake Cities Ballet, Lewisville Lake Symphony, Musical Feast Chorus, and VAL). This year it is our turn to host this reception, and it is planned for Saturday November 18th at 7:00 pm — to coincide with our Holiday Sale events. Please contact Marci Kawalek, our Arts Council Rep, for more details and to volunteer. This is our chance to impress our fellow culture lovers, wine and dine them, and raise a significant amount of dollars for charity. Mark your calendars and let’s all get behind this!
As a Lewisville grant recipient, VAL is required to participate in “Holiday at the Hall”, the city‘s Christmas celebration, usually held the first weekend on December. We are planning to have a holiday-themed group display in the GLCT windows, and in the lobby of the theater as well, if we have enough pieces. Please be thinking of seasonal pieces for this display, and add it to your holiday “to do” list!
