“Mining My Sketchbooks”
New Works of Art by David L. Mask VAL is pleased to present an exhibition by local artist, teacher and VAL board director, David L. Mask. “Mining My Sketchbooks” opens at the Visual Art League Center Dec. 2 and runs through Jan. 6. The opening reception and wine tasting will be 7-9 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2.
In describing his show, David said it comprises acrylic paintings and sketchbook pages done in pen and pencil with some collage. Included are several fish paintings along with abstract color field paintings, some textural. He anticipates that the biggest surprise of the show will be watching people’s reaction when they enter the inner gallery and their response to the art. David said, “These sketchbook pages are very personal. They reveal a lot about me… It was exciting to select the pages and to install the show. The show is an experiment. It was designed to be visually exciting and to allow viewers to explore my sketchbook pages.”
