Accomplished oil painter Bev Boren gave a great painting demonstration on March 13. The demo started promptly at 7:00 and continued until 9:30. The member meeting was held during the 20 minute break.
Bev started out with a blank canvas. She proceed to rough in half the panel with a mix of mineral spirits and burnt umber. Ms. Boren then wiped out the general shape of the objects on the picture surface. Next she blocked in the shapes on the canvas. With each consecutive layer of paint Bev defined the shapes, adding shadows and highlights. Ms. Boren continued until she finally added details to the piece. All in two hours, Amazing! Below are photos of the demonstration, as well as a photo of the finished piece.
