Visual Art of Lewisville Fresh Ideas 2013 Juried Member Show

The Visual Art of Lewisville, Texas is pleased to announce a call for entries for the Fresh Ideas Juried Members Show to be held at the MCL Grand Theater Art Gallery in Lewisville, Texas June 29 through August 10, 2013.

The exhibit is open to all current Visual Art League members and to all artists who sign-up for membership at the time of entry. The entry fee is $25.00 for current VAL Members for a maximum of three 3 pieces of work. Artists may enter in the adult or student categories.

The First Place Winner for the adult category will receive a cash prize of $250.00, and a solo show in May/June of 2014 at the MCL Grand Theater Art Gallery in Lewisville. There will also be cash prizes for 2nd Place, 3rd Place, 2 Honorable Mentions and a People’s Choice Award. Three winners will also be recognized for the student category.

Entries will be accepted at the MCL Grand Theater Art Gallery on Saturday, June 22, 2:00 – 4:00 pm, and Sunday, June 23, 2:00 – 4:00 pm.

The Juror this year is Anne Royer of McKinney, Texas. Royer is a studio artist, art historian, and Artist Liaison at Orisons Fine Art Gallery in McKinney Texas. She regularly lectures at the Heard-Craig Center for the Arts, and teaches fine art from her McKinney studio. As Director of the Arts and Music Guild of McKinney, Royer curates art exhibits and creates synergistic events bringing artists and musicians together. Royer holds master’s degrees in Religion and the Arts and the History of Art from Yale University.

The MCL Grand Theater is located at 100 N. Charles Street in Lewisville, Texas.

Lakeside Arts Foundation is now accepting applications for Vendors for “Chalk This Way!” Sidewalk Art Festival, sponsored by Greater Lewisville Arts Alliance and the City of Lewisville, on June 1, 2013 outside the Lewisville MCL Grand from 9 AM to 6 PM.

• $60/booth for vendors selling original works of art, hand-crafted gifts and decorative items
• $25/booth for nonprofit organizations
• $75/booth for food and community vendors

The day-long event will feature professional chalk artists, amateur chalk art contest, scholarship contest, a children’s non-competitive gallery, art, food & drink vendors, and a variety of entertainment. Details, rules, vendor forms and entry forms are available on the website.

Dress it UP! is an exhibit highlighting ideas of gender, beauty, and popularity, particularly in the context of material culture and modes of dress. From local prom kings and queens to the iconic Marilyn Monroe, what one wears communicates status and identity.

Arts International Exhibit El Paso Art Association Deadline August 31, 2012

The El Paso Art Association announces a call to artists for the annual juried fine art competition and exhibition, opening October 6, 2012 in Crossland Gallery, El Paso, Texas. $5,000+ in cash and prizes. Juror: William Arthur Herring. Open to all artists working in the following mediums: oil, alkyd, watercolor, acrylics, gouache, mixed media, pen and ink, pencil, encaustic, sculpture, monotypes, lithographs, serigraphs (see prospectus for details). Works must be original in execution and may not have been accepted for exhibit in any previous El Paso Art Association show or exhibit. Up to three entries per artist. The EAP (Exhibition Advisory Panel) is seeking exhibition proposals from artists, and curators for all art forms, including new media, for its 2013-14 season. These submissions will be reviewed for use in EAP curated exhibits. The EAP is also interested in proposals for curated single artist or group exhibitions. Please note that curators may not be included in their own curated exhibitions.
