Staff Members

We all appreciate and enjoy seeing the new work that the staffing members have put in the Main Gallery. About every 2 months, Staff Members’ change out their work for a new exhibit. This creates about 4 separate shows 2-months each year, after eliminating the time and space for LISD and invitational show schedules. At the time of change out, it is important that everyone taking down work or placing work in the new show, be at the art center at the scheduled time. But of course, there will be times you cannot and in which case, please provide our new staff coordinator, Brenda Hinaman (972-221-6952), with information as to what you want done with your work. For example you can’t be there to take out your work, let her know you want it placed in the back, etc., or if you have dropped off work to be hung, let her know where you have left it and that you would like it hung in the show.

To help her in organizing the change-out, it is suggested that you send her an email at TRSplace2@yahoo.com confirming what you would like. We want to continue to put up different work at each change-out so a painting doesn’t show for more than two months in a row. Any VAL member who will provide time to staff the gallery during regular open hours can participate in the exhibits. If an artist is unable to do that, perhaps another person would be willing to fill in for them and make it up later, or another time could be arranged, even in a following month. The important thing is to maintain consistent hours that the gallery is available to the public. This is a commitment we have made to our community and to each other.

We are continuing to build our publicity to make the public aware of our new exhibits. It has been suggested that we do a mailing each time we have a change-out of work and this is something we should consider. Available now in our web site is a calendar which can be used by members only to access the staffing schedule. www.visualartleague.org/valec/ This will be a convenient way to check your schedule date and that of others with whom you might want to visit or make contact during their scheduled day of staffing the gallery.
